It started with a question.

What if the things we use every day could be made a little more thoughtfully?

Nature's Kiss began with a conversation at home.

Our daughter was a member of her school's Eco Council, and her interest in sustainability started making us look at everyday products differently. What began with simple conversations about waste, even things as ordinary as the ingredients and packaging in products such as lip balm, gradually became a much bigger question.

What are the things we buy actually made from?

Where do those materials come from?

How are they packaged?

And what happens to them when we're finished with them?

We realised that, like most people, we'd rarely stopped to think about what happens behind the products we use every day. So we started looking.

LOOKING BEYOND THE LABEL

The more we researched, the more we realised that making a product isn't simply about what it looks like or how good it smells. There is a story behind every ingredient and every piece of packaging.

We started looking at the materials used in home fragrance, the different types of wax available, the ingredients in fragrances and the packaging traditionally used for products such as wax melts. And that led us to question something that seemed so simple:

Does beautiful fragrance have to come with unnecessary waste?

We didn't want to simply create another candle business. We wanted to understand whether we could make beautiful products while making more thoughtful choices about what went into them and what happened afterwards.

RETHINKING THE WAX

One of the first things we looked at was the wax itself. There are many different waxes available, each with their own advantages, disadvantages and environmental considerations.

For Nature's Kiss, we chose a rapeseed and coconut wax blend for our candles and wax melts.

Rapeseed is a crop grown extensively in the UK and Europe, while coconut is a renewable plant-based resource. We chose this blend because it gives us the qualities we wanted from our candles while fitting with the direction we wanted Nature's Kiss to take.

But we also learned something important along the way!

There isn't a single ingredient that magically makes a product sustainable.

It's about looking at the bigger picture.

Where something comes from.
How it is produced.
How far it travels.
How it is packaged.
And what happens at the end of its life.

That is the approach we want to continue taking.

QUESTIONING THE PACKAGING

Our journey didn't stop with the wax.
We started looking at the packaging used for wax melts and asking:

Why does something that melts in your home need to arrive wrapped in so much plastic?

Traditional plastic clamshells are widely used because they're practical, inexpensive and protect the product.
But practical doesn't automatically mean it's the only option. So we began looking for alternatives. We wanted packaging that could protect our products while reducing unnecessary plastic and fitting with the values behind Nature's Kiss.

It's a small change in the grand scheme of things. But small changes are exactly where our journey started. And we're still looking for more.

WE'RE NOT PERFECT. AND THAT'S THE POINT.

We're careful about using the word sustainable because we don't believe any product is completely without environmental impact. Our candles still require materials.
Our fragrances still need ingredients.
Our products still need packaging.
And delivering them to your door still has an environmental footprint. We don't want to pretend otherwise.

Instead, we believe in asking better questions, making better choices where we can, and continually looking for ways to improve. For us, that's what being more environmentally conscious really means.

FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOUR HOME

Nature's Kiss is a family business based in Derbyshire.

Every candle and wax melt is hand-poured by us, with care going into everything from choosing the fragrance to preparing the finished product.

We wanted to create home fragrance that feels special, something that smells beautiful, looks beautiful and feels good to use.

But we also wanted there to be something more behind the product.

A reason.

A story.

A set of values.

You're supporting a small family business that started because one child's curiosity made her family stop and ask better questions.
